Fortynine Palms Oasis
Fortynine Palms Oasis in Joshua Tree National Park is a beautiful water spot in the desert open to visitors in fall, winter, and spring. The oasis, located in the park's north, is important for providing water in the dry desert mountains. To get there, you need to hike a three-mile trail with a 300-foot climb each way. The trail is mostly solid dirt, with a gentle slope of 8% on average and a steeper part with a 27% slope. It's crucial to follow the rules and not go into the oasis since it's a vital area for plants and animals. In the summer, the oasis, trail, and parking are closed to protect water for the bighorn sheep until there's enough rain, usually in summer or fall, to support the wildlife depending on the oasis.
